Most tiled roofs in Townsville fail at the ridge and the hips long before the tiles themselves go. The mortar bed cracks in the heat, the pointing lets go, and the first serious wet season pushes water straight under the capping. We lift the capping, remove the old bedding back to the tile, re-bed on fresh mortar, then point with a flexible pointing compound that moves with the roof instead of cracking off it. Broken and slipped tiles are replaced with matched profiles, and in Region C every tile in the perimeter courses and along the ridges, hips and verges is mechanically fixed as well as bedded.

How long does re-pointing last in this climate?
Flexible pointing done properly gives you fifteen to twenty years here. The old sand and cement mortar it replaces was doing well to reach ten before the heat cracked it.
Can you match tiles on a nineties estate roof?
Almost always. We keep the common Townsville profiles in the yard and we have a salvage supplier for the rest. If a profile is genuinely gone we will show you the closest match before we lay it.
Do I need scaffolding?
For most single-storey re-bedding, no, a harness and roof ladders do the job. Two-storey or steep-pitch work usually needs an edge protection system, and if it does we put it in the quote rather than adding it later.
